Each new generation helps shape the history of cinema—the competition has notably launched the careers of Jacques Audiard, François Ozon, Justine Triet, and Rebecca Zlotowski. A parallel section of the Cannes Film Festival dedicated to first and second films, La Semaine de la Critique took place in Cannes from May 13 to 21, 2026.
An international jury awarded the Ami Paris Grand Prix to Marine Atlan for her debut film La Gradiva as part of this 65th edition.
